Five football fans were suspended from approaching sports venues for four months following incidents at the Centenary Stadium in Ta’ Qali during a football match last month.

Two men and two women were each fined €90 and the fifth, a minor, was conditionally discharged for two years. Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard that the incidents took place after the Valletta-Hibernians match on June 25.

Colin Ellul, 27, of Għaxaq, Kimberly McKay, 20, of Birkirkara, and Carol Lee Cumbo,19, of Sta Lucija, pleaded guilty to disobeying police orders, breaching the peace and swearing in public. Arist Cordina, 28, of Valletta, pleaded guilty to disobying police orders and invading the pitch.

A minor, who cannot be named because of his age, also pleaded guilty to invading the pitch during another match on May 12.

The 15-year-old, from Ta’ Xbiex, was further charged with forming part of a group of more than 10 people with the intention of committing a crime.

Lawyer Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
