The Maltese football community will unite for a noble cause on Boxing Day when the fourth edition of ‘Gowl għall-Istrina’ is organised at the Centenary Sta-dium in Ta’ Qali.

This annual event, the brain-child of sports journalists and brothers George and Christian Micallef, has gradually become a main charity activity during the Yuletide period and is held under the patronage of Malta President George Abela and in conjunction with the Malta Football Asso-ciation.

This year’s ‘Gowl għall-Istrina’ will get under way on Sunday, with an auction sale of football shirts of all teams in the BOV Premier League and the BOV Division One.

The auction will be held during the evening sports talk show Replay, on Net TV, and other programmes on One TV.

The main event, however, will be reserved for December 26 at the Centenary Stadium.

Among the participants at the football tournament will be a selection from the MFA Division Two and Three leagues.

They will make their first appearance in ‘Gowl għall-Istrina’ and join their peers from the Pre-mier League and Division One.

Football enthusiasts are urged to attend and support the event and give their donations in aid of charity.

The event is sponsored by Errea, 240 Limited, Twilight Limited, Big Exhibits, One TV and Net TV.
