The historic arches known as L-Għajn tal-Loġoġ, near L-Għajn tal-Ħasselin in Fontana, are being restored.

The work is being carried out by the local council and is financed by the Gozo Ministry under the Eco Gozo scheme for councils.

Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said the project was just one of several aimed at improving Gozo’s touristic credentials.

Other projects falling under the scheme include the building of rubble walls and the conservation of rural areas.

Mrs Debono said she was satisfied by the positive response to the scheme through which eight councils and three administrative committees were involved in 13 projects. Between them, they will be benefiting from €660,000 worth of assistance funds.

Aside from the L-Għajn tal-Loġoġ restoration job, the Fontana council is also involved in two other projects, namely the installation of multilingual information boards that explain the area’s history and the installation of decorative street lighting.
