Bank of Valletta recently signed a two-year collaboration agreement with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) to collaborate on a project to promote quality performances on a national level.

“We are honoured to have BoV again as one of our principal sponsors supporting one of the core programmes of the orchestra targeting children, youth and communities,” said MPO chairman James Scerri Worley.

“We are committed to supporting Malta’s national orchestra to ensure the highest quality productions. We want to encourage the public to appreciate culture in all its forms, starting with programmes that instil in children a love for music,” said the bank’s head of PR and social media, Vanessa Macdonald.

In the past two to three years, the orchestra in Malta has reached larger audiences. The orchestra is working on various new projects and its calendar is filled with over 45 events targeting various audiences.

Highlights of events made possible through the agreement include Icarus at the Edge of Time, where film, music and science collide in a re-imagining of the classic Greek myth of Icarus, Meet the Basses, a hands-on performance introducing children to the bass instruments of the orchestra, community concerts held in various locations, and the second edition of the successful MPO and Malta Youth Orchestra in concert at St George’s Square, Valletta.
