The seasonal influenza jab will be available at health centres and local councils from today.

The vaccine will be given free to those over 55, children between six months and four years and 11 months, and people suffering from chronic diseases of the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, diabetes mellitus, and immunodeficiency conditions, including HIV and AIDS.

People over 55 who have already registered at their local councils should not go to the health centres.

Carers of bedbound people should call the MMDNA office on 2138 7526 from Monday to Saturday between 11am and 12.30pm, and 2pm and 3.30pm.

Vaccination at health centres will be given between Monday and Friday from 10am and 1.30pm and on Saturdays between 10am and 12.30pm.

It will also be administered in the afternoon at Birkirkara, Floriana and Paola health centres between 2pm and 7pm from Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays between 1pm and 7pm.

People should take their ID card with them while the child-ren’s immunisation record book or card must be shown.
