Johann Said yesterday asked Floriana FC members to extend the Annual General Meeting to June 22 for them to mull over a set of proposals which he forwarded during an assembly at the club premises.

The Greens president was one of the main speakers during the meeting which was attended by 400 members. He explained a number of new proposals for the upcoming season and made it clear that he will only stand for re-election if his conditions are accepted.

“Season 2010-11 has been a very successful one for Floriana,” Said told The Sunday Times yesterday.

“The club has won its first major honour in 17 years and it was my intention to step down from the post at the end of the campaign.

“However, the club members were determined not to let me go and persuaded me to reconsider my position.

“At that point I presented a number of conditions, among which I am asking for the return of some former Floriana presidents to the administration. I have given the members almost 12 days to think on my proposals and now we will be meeting again on June 22.

“If in our next meeting my proposals are accepted I will contest the election, if not I will step down.”

Said was elected as Floriana president at the start of last season and he helped the club to win the FA Trophy and finish as runners-up in the BOV Premier League.
