The Times recently reported that the planning authority had approved an application for the reconstruction of the Fleur de Lys archway.

Readers may be interested to know that the original planning permit granted to Bank of Valletta some 12 years ago for the building of their headquarters at Santa Venera included a condition that the applicant was to finance and rebuild the archway.

This condition was included as planning gain in return for some planning concessions that were made in granting that permit.
