The Animal Rights Coalition welcomed the government’s initiative to provide shelters for horse-drawn cabs and urged it to construct the approved water points as soon as possible.

The temporary shelters at Pinto Wharf, which offer shade for 10 karozzini horses, was the beginning of the “long overdue requirements that caused great concern to locals, foreigners and international organisations”, the coalition said.

There are 65 registered horse-drawn cabs that urgently required the implementation of all necessary facilities to be in place for Malta to conform to EU standards, it pointed out.
