Sixty-two paintings and sculptures, mainly by well-established artists, are to be exhibited at The Palace in Valletta until they are auctioned off on November 23 in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

This year’s collection includes works by the late Frank Borg and Aldo Micallef Grimaud, as well as by foreign artists such as Peter Quinn and Patricia Bernar Elorza.

The pieces vary in material from watercolour to bronze and ceramics.

President George Abela, who launched the exhibition yesterday, thanked the organising committee led by Doris Zahra, auctioneer Joseph A. Sammut, and the artists who donated their work.

On November 22, the fine art pieces will be transferred to the Sant’Anton Palace, where the auction will be held at 7pm the next day.

The money collected through the auction will be presented to Dr Abela during the L-Istrina marathon to be held at the Verdala Palace on December 26.

Auction participants need to book a place from the exhibition, at €25.

Every piece will be accompanied with an authenticity certificate and the auction will include a champagne reception.
