The organising committee of the 10th GO Malta Football Awards yesterday issued the names of finalists for the presentations night at the MFCC on May 25.

Not surprisingly, players from Premier League champions Val-letta FC dominate the list with a nomination in each of the four categories in respective roles on the pitch.

Jesmond Zerafa has also made the cut for best coach where he will be vying for the honour with Noel Coleiro (Tarxien) and Paul Zam-mit (Birkirkara).

Gilbert Agius has made it to the final three in the category for Best Veteran and Best Maltese Player.

In the latter contest, the City captain was joined by team-mates Rode-rick Briffa and Ryan Fenech.

For awards attached to the Premier League alone, those eligible to vote were club presidents, coaches and captains of all ten teams in the top flight.

Also included were 60 journalists, sports TV producers, commentators and photo reporters.

In a statement, Sandro Micallef, organising committee chairman, said the response of those entitled to vote was strong.

“We received the majority of the votes by the established deadline. That helped us to determine all three finalists in each category without a hitch,” he said.

The awards for the best goal and save of the 2010-11 season will be decided by the public via televoting.
