Fimbank organised a seminar for its shareholders, during which participants were given an overview of the group’s global activities, as well as a range of trade finance products and services it provides.

Addressing the seminar, which was held in collaboration with the Malta Association of Small Shareholders and supported by the Malta Stock Exchange, group chairman John Grech referred to the collaboration between Fimbank plc and the Malta Association of Small Shareholders.

“Fimbank was one of the first listed companies to open its doors to the association. We are committed to the protection of shareholders’ rights and their equal treatment. We are also always looking to keep open, extend and diversify the channels of communication with all our shareholders, as well as ensuring that the wider community of Maltese shareholders is kept abreast of developments at Fimbank,” Dr Grech said.

Fimbank CEO Murali Subramanian expressed satisfaction at the high turnout at the seminar. “Trade finance is a traditional business that is at the heart of global commerce. It is the expertise and focus at Fimbank on delivering client-specific solutions that has given the bank a reputation of being a significant and important trade finance provider globally. This is one of the more distinguishing features of Fimbank. I trust that this demonstration of our capabilities and solution orientation came across in today’s presentations,” he said.

Presentations were delivered by Dennis Camilleri and Lorna Pillow, senior officers in the trade and commodity finance and forfaiting businesses respectively.

Mr Camilleri spoke about the nature of the bank’s trade finance business, while Ms Pillow gave an overview of forfaiting and elaborated on the advantages of this alternative financing solution.

Another presentation was given by Malta Stock Exchange CEO Eileen Muscat, who focused on recent market trends and developments, as well as new opportunities that will be available to local investors and SMEs.

Malta Association of Small Shareholders PRO Tarcisio Barbara thanked Fimbank for organising the seminar, adding that since its foundation, the association had evolved considerably.

“It is now fulfilling its mission of increasing financial literacy and knowledge of MSE-listed companies among local shareholders and investors,” he said.
