Cruise passenger traffic dropped by almost 23 per cent to 171,279 between July and September, the National Statistics Office said.

There were fewer calls by cruise liners last year – 101 when compared to 113 recorded in the same period last year.

Transit passengers acc­ounted for the vast majority of total traffic, reaching 144,148 or 84.2 per cent.

Visitors from the EU amounted to 75 per cent of total traffic – mainly coming from the British, German and Italian markets.
