Gozo ferries carried more passengers in the last three months of last year than in the same quarter of 2013, despite making fewer trips.

A total of 1,040,122 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo, an increase of 1.8 per cent, the National Statistics Office said. The number of trips however fell by 0.5 per cent, amounting to 4,750.

October registered the highest number of passengers for the period, at 406,077. The number of vehicles also increased, by 3.8 per cent, to 298,695. Figures for the whole year showed that more trips were made, while the number of passengers increased by 247,936, or 5.6 per cent, and the number of vehicles carried by 92,537 or 7.8 per cent.
