The city of Malaga buzzes with colour and life during the week of the Feria de Málaga. It is filled with not only locals, but tourists joining in the revelry with traditional costumes, live music, flamenco dancing and food stores serving traditional cuisine.

The days are filled with a carnival atmosphere, as horses carry people dressed in traditional costumes and crowds of people line the streets, decked out in customary clothing. Food stores offer local dishes, including the sweet Malaga wine or a vino fino (sherry).

In the evening the real de la feria shifts south-west of the centre to Cortijo de Torres, with more than 200 pavilions open to the public, each hosted by a different local group or association. Each night is dedicated to a certain event such as flamenco dance and music, peña music groups, pop and flamenco bands and competitions.

The port is lit up by a firework display, turning the city into an explosion of light and colour.

Fly from Malta to Seville with Ryanair. It is possible to take a train from Sevilla Santa Justa train station direct to Malaga María Zambrano station in the city centre.
