The feast of St Dominic is being celebrated in Valletta tomorrow.

Today, eve of the feast, the translation of the relic of the saint will take place at 6.30pm. It will be led by prior and parish priest Michael Camilleri, OP. A sung Mass by Father Provincial Frans Micallef, OP, will follow.

The highlight of the outdoor festivities today will be the traditional morning march by the King’s Own Band of Valletta. It will start from near the parish church in Merchants Street at 9.30am.

On arrival at the Palace square, the band will salute President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca with the playing of the national anthem.

In the evening, the King’s Own Band will execute a Venetian-style band march from near the Parliament building in Freedom Square.

Tomorrow, Pontifical Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona, OP, at 9.15am. The panegyric will be delivered by Fr Alex Scerri, O.Carm. The procession with the statue of the saint will leave the church at 7.15pm.
