The farmers’ association, ATB, is no longer in a position to offer the fertiliser plan services to farmers.

Reacting to the article titled ‘Farmer who exposed bad practice being investigated’ that appeared on Friday, the association said it had already explained this to Paul Abela, the farmer in question.

“We also explained to Mr Abela that this service is being offered by the Farm Advisory Services Consortium and it is 80 per cent funded by the EU,” it clarified.

It also said that the association was negotiating with the authorities to find other avenues to cover the remaining costs farmers would have to fork out – farmers will still have to pay VAT which is, however, refundable.
