In the coming weeks Appoġġ will organise a series of family workshops aimed at parents experiencing challenges, particularly regarding child upbringing.

The workshops enable parents to work on their own personal development; they provide opportunities to improve relationship skills that would help them get closer to the significant others in their lives, primarily, though not exclusively, to their children.

They help parents understand human behaviour – in particular, child behaviour – and help them learn skills for better child care, on the emotional level as well as basic physical care, and how to use a positive parenting attitude with their children.

The workshops also enable parents to learn skills to improve the management of their home such as budgeting skills, nutrition, health and safety in the home, and basic home maintenance.

The workshops consist of a group of between eight and 10 parents who meet once a week for two hours for about six months.

The workshops are held in a central location. Participation is free of charge and child minding is provided.

Professionals may also contact Appoġġ to refer a family for these workshops.

For booking or further details contact Appoġġ on 2295 9000 during office hours, e-mail appogg@gov.mt or visit www.appogg.gov.mt.

Those interested in attending these workshops are invited to an information session on September 13 at 10 a.m. at the Appoġġ premises in Guardamangia.
