Faces is holding a fundraising dinner at the Westin Dragonara Resort’s Terrace Restaurant in St Julian’s on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost €25 and include a three-course meal with a choice of meat or fish; vegetarian and children’s options will also be available.

Faces is a registered voluntary organisation, set up in 2003 with the aim of improving the quality of life of people who, due to poverty, displacement or other difficult situations, are unable to access vital services such as healthcare and education.

Faces currently operates projects in Nakuru, Kenya, in Arequipa, Peru and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In Kenya, Faces funded the building of a new home for orphans of St Joseph the Worker parish in October 2008. This orphanage currently houses 40 people aged seven to 23. Faces coordinates a sponsorship program for the orphanage’s residents, financing their education fees, books and uniforms together with food costs and the maintenance of the orphanage.

Faces also sponsors the education of a number of children in Arequipa.

Furthermore, it recently embarked on a project in Dar Es Salaam. During the summers of 2009 and 2010, a temporary clinic and school was opened there, offering free medical services and English and ICT classes to uneducated adults.
