Parliament has unanimously approved the second reading of two Bills, one amending the law on the notarial profession and the other amending the Explosives Ordinance.

The Notarial Professions and Notarial Archives (Amendment) Bill provides that the transitory period for students undergoing the law course before deciding to exercise the notaries’ profession and the clause requiring a two-year practice before applying for a warrant would come into effect in 2018 and not 2015 as had been approved in in 2011.

Amendments to the Explosives Ordinance give the Commissioner of Police the power to establish where pyrotechnic material should be stored, in a safe and licensed place, away from the factory.

They also stipulated that those working in fireworks had to submit a plan of action for the year ahead by December 15, to exert control on what is made each year.

They also stipulate to whom gunpowder could be sold, who could work in pyrotechnics, where and under what conditions.

The House also approved in third reading the Bill amending the code of civil organisation and procedure, and of the Bill amending various law on the classification of films and theatre performances.
