Having a German granny as an au pair is ideal, as she would bring a bit of home to your home.

Granny Aupair in Hamburg, which has been placing German ‘grannies’ as au pairs aroundthe world for four years, is looking for families in Malta interested in having an experienced granny helping them out as an au pair.

“An au-pair grandma can become part of your family and bring peace and stability due to her reliability,” says Granny Aupair founder Michaela Hansen, who has placed almost 500 grannies in 40 countries.

“Our grannies offer what many young au pairs cannot deliver and what families appreciate: they have life experience, are grounded and responsible,” she adds.

Grannies have time for baking, crafts, cooking and games. They can offer love, safety and security and give what working parents cannot achieve during the week.

A loving replacement granny is often a helpful support with childcare, bringing a bit of home to the host family.

Gerda, 57, spent 10 months with an expat German family in Nottingham.

Prior to her placement, she and her husband visited the doctor couple in Nottingham and hit it off immediately, especially with their then 18-month-old daughter Jessica.

The granny aupair nanny moved into the couple’s house with free board and lodging.

“I didn’t receive a fee, but my family could stay with me any time,” she said.

She became involved with her host family’s life, picking up Jessica from nursery, spending the afternoons with her and accompanying them to parties and on trips.
