Exiles Ferretti made a bold recovery to pick the spoils at the expense Sirens Ritter Sport as the off-season Winter League programme resumed yesterday evening at the National Pool.
The team guided by Aurelien Cousin should be commended for hitting back strongly in the latter sessions after they had changed ends 6-2 in arrears.
All their manjack played their hearts out but the main architect of their victory were Kayne Lanzon and Peter Borg who scored four goals each.
Exiles also had to thank a stout rearguard which had goalkeeper Ian Bugeja pulling off some fine saves at crucial moments during the match.
As for Sirens, they went into sleep mode after a bright start.
Except for Charlie Zammit and Jurgen Borg, each scorer of a hat-trick, their shooting became blunt particularly when missing several man-up sets.
At the other end, their defence was caught napping time and again.
Exiles administered the game well to win the last sessions 8-3, thus toppling their opponents.
In the second match, which was non-competitive, Sliema McDonald’s eased away to a 26-4 victory against the ASA U-17 selection.
The Blues’ field-day was marked as of the opening session after which their vastly superior players kept hammering in the goals despite several substitutions late on.
