The Birkirkara Visual Art Group (BVAG) is holding an exhibition, Art Aid Għall-Missjoni 2013, in aid of the Dominican missions that are based in Albania.

BVAG, an official NGO, was founded with the intent of bringing together all artists practising the visual arts in order to meet, share experiences and discuss their profession and hobbies as well as to promote the importance of art and culture. The NGO also works to support local talent, as well as to raise awareness and appreciation of the artistic treasures in Malta.

Although initially aimed at Birkirkara artists, BVAG nowadays has extended its scope across Malta, and every month the committee organises cultural tours to various cultural places of interest on the islands.

The current exhibition includes works by all members, and a percentage of the proceeds from any sale are donated to the Dominican missionary projects. In the previous exhibitions, renowned guest artists like John Martin Borg and Anton Calleja were asked to take part. This year, the focus will be Jessica Debattista’s works. The artist will also be delivering a lecture at the Dominican Convent’s Radju Marija Auditorium Hall on November 11 at 7.30pm.

Art Aid Għall-Missjoni 2013 runs between November 9 and 16 at the Dominican Convent, Rabat.
