Annual inflation in the eurozone was expected to be 0.8 per cent last month, down from 0.9 per cent in November, according to an estimate from Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office.

Food, alcohol and tobacco was expected to have the highest annual rate in December (1.8 per cent, compared with 1.6 per cent in November), followed by services (one per cent, compared with 1.4 per cent in November) and non-energy industrial goods (0.2 per cent, stable compared with November).
