An etching of Fontana’s L-Għajn il-Kbira is on sale in aid of the St Patrick’s Salesian School of Sliema.

The etching is the work of 30-year-old Gozitan artist Justin Falzon, who studied fine arts at the Lorenzo de Medici Art Institute in Florence.

L-Għajn il-Kbira is Fontana’s main attraction. The wash house over the principal spring was raised around 1685 by the cleric Gasparre Azzopardi, who was in possession of the Tas-Saqqajja benefice and the spring.

Some form of arched shelter may have been in existence since the late 14th century.

The etching is 35cm x 50cm and only 100 numbered copies have been printed.
