About three weeks ago, I wrote that in any competition it is most important to participate although our aim should be the bullseye. Winning is a bonus.

There was someone who disagreed with me and my beliefs. I did not bother to reply to his conclusions since I thought they were rather silly.

Incidentally, today I received a pamphlet sent from the church of St Julian’s and I could not help but reply. For the sake of accuracy I will quote what was said on the front space of same. I prefer to copy Pierre De Coubertain’s quotes as printed in Maltese.

“L-importanti fil-ħajja mhux it-trijonf imma t-taqbida” (in life, it is the struggle not triumph that matters).

“L-essenzjali mhux li tirbaħ imma li tkun issilitt” (what is essential is that you struggle not win).
