In the latest issue of Meusac News, which came with The Times of August 11, it is stated, in the “equality” paragraph, that “the EU is committed to fighting social exclusion and discrimination and to promote justice and social protection. Any discrimination based on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, religion or beliefs, age or disability is prohibited”.

Meanwhile, the report on the back page of the same issue of The Times states that “the proposed (Cohabitation) Bill does not introduce civil partnership for gay couples nor make any provision for any special tax status”.

It seems that politicians’ pre-election fears of upsetting the status quo and losing a few votes makes cowards of them all. Let’s just carry on accepting all the perks from the EU but ignore the rules!
