The first round of racing from this season’s Enduro series, organised by the Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK), will be held at the motor sports complex in Ta’ Qali on Sunday.

The 2016-17 Enduro Championship calendar will be spread over six rounds with some of the races staged outside the organisation’s home circuit following fruitful talks with quarry owners.

Tomorrow, the Enduro committee within the ASMK fold, under the direction of Eddie Bonello, will lay out the championship-launching track at Ta’ Qali.

This will include natural and man-made obstacles, making it more challenging for the riders to claim the day’s honours.

Registration for Sunday’s races opens at 9am and racing gets underway an hour later.

Competitors will be grouped in three classes – 250cc, over 250cc and Trials.

It has been confirmed that the Trials racing series, cancelled on October 30 because of bad weather, is now pencilled in for December 13. The location is yet to be established.

The ASMK has undertaken an ambitious project at the motor sports complex where special machinery is being used to construct a new, one-kilometre long Autocross track. Works are being carried out by Polidano Group, Philip Agius and Sons and Carmel Vella and Sons under the coordination of the governing body’s projects manager Lawrence Darmanin.

Works on the Motocross track are expected to commence later this month.
