Paul Cassar (October 10) missed the point of my letter completely and, I dare say, contradicted himself.
The point of my letter (October 4) was crystal clear. He shouldn’t have congratulated the St Julian’s council for such a horrible deed (sponsoring the culling of pigeons by having them shot) but denigrated it. When one congratulates someone’s action, one is condoning the deed and also the means by which it was carried out. The end does not justify the means.
As regards his last statement, I can simply say that in matters of taste there can be no dispute (de gustibus non est disputandum).
