If there is a simple and effective way to curb unemployment and tax avoidance it is to make it mandatory for all government departments, agencies, authorities and employment agencies to report their recruitment to the Employment and Training Corporation.

In my line of work I come across instances where people with a VAT number, with a lotto receiver’s licence, and people working in Libya are either receiving unemployment benefits or not registered with the ETC at all.

In this computer age, it only takes the push of a button to do so.
