The ranks of the unemployed grew by just over 300 people in March but the bad news was tempered by a much higher increase in full-time employment.

Official figures released yesterday showed that the number of people registering for work reached 6,966.

However, full-time workers went up by 2,453 when compared to the same month last year while the number of part-timers increased by just over 3,000.
