Malta’s Tourism Authority considers the British, Italian, French and German tourism markets as mature. At the same time the authority is seeking to enlarge the Spanish, Scandinavian and Russian markets as secondary. Among the emergent markets are Poland and China.

The authority also distinguished between markets that could generate growth in the short/medium terms and those, that needed more time to grow, like Asia and Latin America.
