The November 2 edition of Xarabank on TVM was interesting, civil, aesthetically pleasing and well-executed.

But why did the presenters have to stoop so low when, at the very end of the programme, they decided to present small coffee machines to the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition?

I realise that sponsors demand their pound of flesh but to have our leaders holding plastic bags during a live debate on the national broadcasting station as if they were on a Sunday morning saunter at the Monti was vulgar, insensitive and embarrassing.

For heaven’s sake, can you imagine doing the same to Barack Obama or David Cameron?

Is there no decorum left?
