The European Law Students’ Association Malta (Elsa) hosted the launch of the fourth edition of its Law Review at Europe House. Elsa’s vice president for academic activities James Debono gave an overview of the core values of the organisation, its role as part of a larger international network of around 39,000 students, as well as its local collaboration with the Faculty of Laws on a national level.

The Elsa Malta Law Review is a student-edited and peer-reviewed law review journal founded in August 2010. Published annually, it enjoys the support of the Chamber of Advocates (the Bar Association of Malta).

Its core objectives are to provide students and young practitioners with the opportunity to publish their research, enhance academic writing and provide greater accessibility to legal knowledge.

A debate on the challenges to intellectual property in the digital world, chaired by Philip Mifsud, also took place. One thing that emerged is the importance of striking a fair balance between the rights of the owner of the intellectual property to safeguard works from unauthorised reproduction and the rights of end-users in relation to freedom of information.
