Valletta booked their place in next Friday's Super Cup final against Luxol after dispatching Hamrun Spartans 11-4 in an entertaining encounter at the Corradino Sports Pavilion last weekend.

The Citizens started off brightly, signalling their intentions to open a cushion lead as the Spartans found it hard to cope with the pressure.

Hamrun found themselves with an even bigger mountain to climb as Valletta scored their goals in the crucial moments of the first half for a deserved 4-1 advantage at the interval.

While Valletta goalkeeper Neil Cuschieri distinguished himself with a string of fine saves either side of half-time, the Spartans were unable to carve open their opponents’ rearguard as frequently as they might have wished.

Former Spartans player Mohammed Elamari was the main protagonist for the Citizens as he scored four goals while Denis di Maio and Jovica Milijic netted a brace each.

The other goals for the winners came from Melvin Borg, Cristian Cuadros Silva and Liam Cachia.

Ħamrun relied on their Brazilian players for goals as Raphinha hit the target twice with Rodrigo and Michel Melo Jose also putting their names on the scoresheet.
