Eight restaurants were recently awarded the ‘Recommended’ label introduced by the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association at the Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana.

The restaurants awarded the label for their achievement in professional management, quality food and high service standards are the Black Pearl, Blue Elephant, Grill 3301, La Mentha, Medina, Quadro, Rickshaw and Vinotheque.

The scheme is intended to recognise and recommend establishments that practise professional management and good standards of customer care and service.

The label is endorsed by the Malta Tourism Authority and has been designed to cater for restaurants that fall within the fine dining or casual dining categories.

Successful restaurants are awarded a certificate and plaque to be displayed in a prominent place in their respective restaurant.

The award ceremony was held in the presence of Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco, MHRA president George Micallef, MHRA CEO George Schembri and the chairman of the ‘Recommended’ label adjudication board Judge Joe Galea Debono. Discussions are underway with the MTA so that the scheme may be the first step in establishing a ‘Quality’ label for restaurants. www.mhra.org.mt
