President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami was admitted to hospital for observation over the weekend after complaining of a heart ailment.

His son, Nationalist Party deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami, said his father had not required any surgical intervention but had been kept at Mater Dei Hospital under observation due to his medical history. Dr Fenech Adami underwent a triple heart bypass operation in 1999 and had a pacemaker fitted earlier this year.

On October 8, he was admitted to hospital for a heart ailment and was discharged after 24 hours.
