A group of teenagers, who meet at the church of St Anthony the Abbot in Xagħra, are mounting a large eco-Christmas tree.

The tree, to be set up in St Anthony’s Square, is eight metres by four metres and is made up of more than 6,000 green and white plastic bottles fixed to an iron structure. The bottles were collected by the people of Xagħra.

Through this initiative, the Teen Spirit group members, besides expressing their creativity, were able to learn more about the importance of contributing towards environmental awareness themselves, while also fostering more education among the people who helped them collect the bottles.

A large mechanical crib will also be on display inside the church of St Anthony the Abbot.
