Gas supplier Easygas will start its own door-to-door sale and distribution in two weeks’ time in a number of towns and villages.

Easygas said it would retain its fixed points of sale in Ħamrun, Luqa, San Ġwann, Luxol and at Joseph Caruana Ltd in Victoria.

The company said it was still accepting the yellow and green cylinders, belonging to its rival company Liquigas, in exchange for its “fully-tested grey cylinders at no extra cost”.

Customers could also buy gas regulators, approved by the Malta Standards Authority, from its fixed points or delivery trucks, it said.

“Easygas are the only local suppliers whose cylinders are fully tested and in conformity with the transportable pressure equipment directive,” the company claimed.

Last month, the standards authority withdrew two types of gas regulator from the market after tests revealed they posed a “serious risk to consumers” as they were only suitable for butane gas and not for liquefied petroleum gas, LPG, the gas supplied in Malta.
