Joseph Muscat’s poor judgement in handling the alleged drug scandal at a Labour Party club highlights again his immaturity, rendering him unfit to become Prime Minister.

How could one trust a man who has deviously hidden from the police and the public such a grave incident, which could have ruined the lives of so many of our vulnerable youngsters? And this is not the first time that he has demonstrated his lack of good judgement. We can never forget nor forgive his vociferous opposition to Malta joining the EU and the eurozone, thereby exposing his lack of vision in national matters.

No wonder that his much-vaunted Labour movement is disintegrating fast. The dinosaurs (Karmenu Vella, Evarist Bartolo, Joe Debono Grech, Leo Brincat, to name a few) have taken hold of the party once again.

The GWU/Labour Party axis of the Mintoffian era has resurfaced and Tony Zarb is baring his teeth again.

The star candidates are bewildered and are scurrying for cover. Those who have tampered with ‘switching’ and have allowed themselves to be used by the Labour media are now fearful of being ‘electrocuted’. The infighting taking place within the red HQ can be heard from afar. The smile on the face of Joseph Muscat has turned into a grimace, never answering searching questions put to him.

Would-be voters and undecided voters, young and old, have a great responsibility to assess carefully the situation. This is no time for harbouring personal grudges and one should look at the bigger picture. Staying on the fence is not an option and certainly not patriotic. The country needs you to decide the future of the well-being of its citizens, your children and grandchildren. Successive Nationalist governments, albeit not perfect, have guided the country to great achievements and progress for the benefit of all. And in the safe hands of Lawrence Gonzi the economic situation of the country is sound and augurs well for the future.

The invigorating assistance of Simon Busuttil will ensure that the next Nationalist government will continue to move the country forward on the right course with clear vision and achieving its targets.

The change of direction being advocated by Muscat is unwarranted and certainly ill-advised. Let us not lose our hard-earned successes and doom our country to the dark Labour days of years gone by. The new voters and the young ones may not be well-informed about the calvary the country had gone through in those years but the older generation is wiser and can bear testimony to it all.

The country beckons. It is up to us all to rally behind the call and ensure a prosperous future with yet another Nationalist government.
