The bonanza given away by the two major political parties in their respective electoral programme is certainly of great benefit to the hopeful beneficiaries while it must be hurtful to taxpayers.

However, nothing is being said how and when it is planned to collect the €1 billion in taxes, fines, and so on due to the various government departments.

As former New York Governor Mario Cuomo is reported to have said in 1985: “You campaign in poetry, you govern in prose.”
