The EU has given Qala almost €200,000 to create a heritage trail around the locality – a project which should be realised over the next three years.

The sites to be included in the trail include the civic centre, picnic area, folklore museum, dolmen, Ta’ Randu windmill, St Anthony’s Battery, Ħondoq Bay, Il-Madonna tal-Blat chapel, the cart ruts, Immaculate Conception Sanctuary, St Joseph Square, the parish church and the belvedere.

The €197,638 in funds were granted to the locality under an EU scheme upon the recommendation of the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs.

Qala mayor Paul Buttigieg said that, in conjunction with previous initiatives undertaken by the council, this project would give a bigger dimension to the locality.
