Routine ECGs at health centres will from today start to be carried out again as scheduled, nearly a month since a directive to stop performing them was issued by the nurses’ union.

The action had been taken because the technicians felt they were being overlooked in favour of new recruits for appointments at Mater Dei Hospital.

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses met the Health Ministry over the issue yesterday.

MUMN president Paul Pace said it had been decided to put the technicians on a rota so they would be working at Mater Dei from time to time.

The union has withdrawn its industrial directive.
