I would like to ask the authorities concerned what is being done to dispose of the large quantities of asbestos being stored (or rather dumped) ‘temporarily’ in a heritage site which is the unique 1937 underground ex-Admiralty power station at Kordin. This has been going on for years and it is about time the issue is addressed.

This asbestos is being removed by supposedly professional people and dumped in this heritage site and subsequently sent to Germany to be processed and disposed of properly.

Instead, these people are being allowed to “temporarily” dump this asbestos, but I suspect this will be for good.

The removal and disposal of this asbestos has been paid for. How about tapping EU funds to get rid of it and clean this heritage site once and for all?

Heritage Malta should insist on having this situation dealt with without delay.
