Journalists and business correspondents from Dubai were in Malta recently on a familiarisation trip organised by the Malta Tourism Autho-rity, Malta Enterprise and Finance Malta.

The group included correspondents for Bloomberg News, The National Newspaper, CPI Financial, Gulf News, and Travel and Tourism News.

Their programme included interviews with stakeholders who highlighted the strengths of the local economy and business sectors.

Journalists also interviewed Malta Tourism Authority chief executive Josef Formosa Gauci, with whom they discussed the unfolding situation in North Africa.

Other meetings and information sessions were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malta Financial Services Authority, the Malta Stock Exchange, the Central Bank of Malta and key financial services industry associations.

The press trip was led by Anthony Tabone, consul general for Malta in Dubai and the northern Emirates, who this year sought to capture a “very niche area of modern Malta”.
