A Dutch drug trafficker was yesterday jailed for eight years and fined €23,000 after he admitted to trying to smuggle in some 400 grams of cocaine in September 2009.

Carlos Manuel Martina, 27 had arrived on a flight from Brussels carrying the drugs hidden in a sock between his legs.

The 424 grams he was carrying, worth €32,276, were 28 per cent pure and were packed together with another chemical called levasimo which is used as a cutting agent when distributing cocaine.
