Consumer Affairs Minister Helena Dalli has instructed her ministry’s Permanent Secretary to ensure the committee overseeing the prices of medicine within the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) is jolted into continuity.

Answering a parliamentary question by Chris Said (PN), Dr Dalli said the committee met only once last year and not at all this year.

She said talks were currently under way with several medicine importers whose local retail prices were higher than the EU average with a view to lowering them.
