Police drug squad officers were proved correct when they suspected that a Swedish national was pushing drugs.

Per Johansson, 24, who was apprehended near the Institute for Tourism Studies in Pembroke on Tuesday, was yesterday jailed for eight months and fined €500 after he pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine and cannabis earlier this week. A search yielded drugs and paraphernalia related to drug trafficking, including weighing scales and small plastic bags. More drugs were found during a search at his house. A total of 20 grams of drugs were found, Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard.

Police Inspector Nikolai Sant prosecuted.
