A drug addict who threatened his sister with a syringe he had used to take heroin has been placed on probation for three years and had a previous conditional discharge extended for a further three.

Roderick Tabone, 25, of Żurrieq, admitted in court yesterday to having threatened his sister with a syringe on Saturday evening and stolen cash, gold jewellery, two digital cameras and other items. He also admitted to being in possession of heroin.

The court heard that he took the items from his parents’ house to sustain his drug addiction.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke placed him on probation, extended a three-year conditional discharge he had received in a similar case and ordered him to attend a drug rehabili-tation programme.

In the second arraignment for simple possession, he was also placed on probation for three years.
