A drug addict was yesterday jailed for 30 months after admitting stealing wires, power sockets and lightning rods from two blocks of apartments still under construction.

Mario Farrugia, 43, from Qormi, admitted taking the items from flats in Main Street, Mosta, and twice from a block in Triq il-Kaħwiela between April 10 and May 2. He also admitted breaching bail conditions.

During the arraignment yesterday, police inspectors Edmond Cuschieri and Carlos Cordina told Magistrate Neville Camilleri that Mr Farrugia has a serious drug addiction and needs to go to a rehabilitation programme.
