A drug addict was yesterday jailed for four years after admitting to a spate of thefts between May and August last year.

Antoine Spiteri, 36, of Marsascala, was being investigated on one theft and admitted all the other cases during interrogation, said Police Inspector Tony Cachia.

Items worth thousands of euros such as computers, cameras and digital equipment were stolen.

Legal aid lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar said Mr Spiteri had cooperated fully with the police.

Mr Spiteri pleaded guilty to stealing from residences in Rabat, Balzan, Sliema and Lija. He also admitted relapsing and committing crime within the operative period of a suspended jail term.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi jailed him for two years over the thefts and brought into force the suspended jail term, bringing the total jail sentence to four years.
